Magic Swan Is A Pocket Trip Winner In $135,000 Galt Trot

October 28 - Magic Swan continued his half mile track magic by popping out from a perfect pocket trip in the stretch to breeze past the pacesetter to win the $135,000 Galt Trot at Maywood in Chicago tonight for driver Andy Miller. The consistent Magic Swan has now increased his lifetime earnings to $304,592 while going 13 - 5 - 1 - 2 this year for trainer / owner Jeffrey Long.

Magic Swan: NJ Sire Stakes Champion Two Years In A Row!

September 9 - Magic Swan (Enjoy Lavec - Swan Lake) powered by the leaders on the outside from sixth position at the 3/4 pole to win the $85,000 NJSS Final for 3 YO Trotting Colts at Freehold today in 1:58.1h for driver Cat Manzi and trainer Jeff Long. At 2, Magic Swan won the same Final at Freehold, and as a result was voted the 2004 NJ 2YO Colt Trotter of the Year. The win raises Magic Swan's lifetime earnings to $236,642.

Swanderful, an S Js Caviar half-brother to Magic Swan, will be sold by Windsong Stable as Hip 59 at Harrisburg. Clareen, a 2 YO S Js Photo half-sister to Swan Lake, the dam of Magic Swan, has already won a PA Sire Stakes in 2:00.3f and placed in 3 other Stakes races (PASS, Arden, and Tompkins-Geers) this summer.

Another NJSS Goes To Q Forty Five

September 1 - Q Forty Five continues his march through the NJSS at Freehold with another wire-to-wire performance today in 1:58.2h for driver Ron Pierce and trainer Jimmy Takter. Q Forty Five now has two wins and a third in three legs of the Freehold series, and surely will have a great shot at the Final next week.

Magic Swan Back On Top in $20,600 NJSS

August 26 - Magic Swan (Enjoy Lavec - Swan Lake) once again displayed his prowess on a half-mile track with a dominating 1:56.3h win in the $20,600 (div.) NJSS at Freehold today for driver Cat Manzi. Starting from Post 2, Magic Swan waited until the stretch when he left pace-setting Clearaway behind to reach the wire first by a comfortable one-length margin. Lifetime, Magic Swan is now 19 - 10 - 2 - 3 with $192,262 in earnings for owner/trainer Jeffrey Long.

Q Forty Five also provided excitement in another division of the NJSS today for trainer/driver Jim Takter by being timed in a World-Record tying 1:56h, only to break before the wire and being placed 3rd as a result.

Look for both to star in the NJSS Finals ahead!

Windsong Stable Places 1, 2 in $38,800 NJSS at Freehold

August 19 – Windsong Stable was way ahead of the competition in the $38,800 NJSS at Freehold today. Q Forty Five (Muscles Yankee – Bax Machine) led every step of the way to defeat a field of good trotting colts in 1:58.2h for driver/trainer/owner Jimmy Takter, displaying the talent that he flashed earlier in the year while winning a NJSS at the Meadowlands in 1:56.2. Finishing a close second in the race was Magic Swan (Enjoy Lavec – Swan Lake), last year’s NJ Colt Trotter of the Year, for driver Cat Manzi and trainer Jeffrey Long. Both were sold by Windsong Stable at the 2003 Harrisburg Sale.

Windsong Stable sells Bax and Queens, a Dream Vacation half sister to Q Forty Five, and Swanderful, an S Js Caviar half brother to Magic Swan, at Harrisburg this November.

Windsong Stable Grandson Becomes A Great German Champion

August 7 - Unforgettable (Diamond Way - Pine Spirit) won the $500,000 German Trotting Derby in Berlin today, winning his elimination by many lengths before taking the final by 1 length. Unforgettable also won another leg of the German Trotting Triple Crown, and was a barely beaten second in the other leg. A near miss for a German Triple Crown! Unforgettable has a record of 1:59.3q and has career earnings of $267,465 with 7 wins in 16 starts.

His dam is Pine Spirit, a daughter of Yankee Spirit 3, 1:57.4 ($251,633) owned by Windsong Stable.

Yankee Spirit's 2005 foal is The Babe, bf by Donerail. Yankee Spirit 3, 1:57.4 ($251,633) is a half-sister to Sunday Yankee 3, 1:55.1 ($378,512), Savage Yankee 4, 2:00.1h ($125,083), and Sonic Yankee 1:55.4 ($96,902).

Lady's Guy Captures the $7,000 A.F. "Pat" Menchi Final at Buffalo

July 22 - Lady's Guy (Malabar Man - Lady Wesgate) led wire-to-wire in defeating a field of two year old trotters to win the $7,000 A.F. "Pat" Menchi Memorial Final at Buffalo Raceway in 2:08.4h for driver John Cummings Jr. and trainer Chris Oluvic. “To have won the Patsy C. Rapone Memorial and the A.F. ‘Pat’ Menchi in the same year is very special,” a jubliant Cummings said. “The good ones were out, but this guy is getting better and better every week,” trainer Oluvic said. “He’ll be racing on the Pennsylvania fair circuit in the near future.”

Lady's Guy did not begin his life in an easy fashion. He was accidentally kicked by his mother as a very young foal, and needed emergency abdominal surgery to save his life. In the process, he had to be gelded. He received some cautious hormonal supplements as a foal to help him mature, but still was fine and feminine as a yearling. He was purchased by trainer Chris Oluvic at Harrisburg for $4000, and has been brought along slowly. He is now showing some of the promise that would be suggested by his royal pedigree. Congratulations to Chris - and we'll look for even better things from this gallant young horse.

Windsong Stable will sell Cup O Tea, a full sister to Lady's Guy, in the Concord Stud Farm consignment at Harrisburg.

The Babies Are Coming!

June 14 – By June, long months of training are just starting to pay off. Promise and hope are placed on the line in qualifying races for 2 year olds. Will they make the grade, or will success pass them by? The first Windsong Stable 2 year old just qualified today at Pocono Downs, and he showed that he has been paying attention in Professor Sam Beegle’s Training Class. First Capitol (S J’s Photo – Samantha Yorktowne) stayed trotting all the way in his first qualifying race and finished with a time of 2:05f. He is the second foal of his dam, Samantha Yorktowne 3, 1:58.1f ($67,803) and half brother to 3 year old PASS Placed Softail 3, Q2:05f ($17,454), timed in 2:01.2f. We hope to see a lot more of him, and of other Windsong Stable youngsters, in the near future.

Windsong Stable sells Harley Honey, a Balanced Image half sister to First Capitol and Softail, at Harrisburg in November.

Lady Power With Powerful Win In $75,000 (Div) Casual Breeze

June 3 - In only her third lifetime start, Lady Power (Muscles Yankee - Supple Hanover) came from way back in the eighth position at the top of the stretch to win her $75,000 division of the Casual Breeze at Woodbine in 1:56.1 for driver Cat Manzi, trainer Larry Rathbone, and owners M and L of Delaware. Now with career earnings of $42,870, Lady Power will next be entered into the Elegant Image Stakes.

Supple Hanover 2, 2:00.3; 3, Q1:59.4 ($93,842) recently foaled a Credit Winner half-sister to Lady Power for Windsong Stable.

Q Forty Five Has Their Numbers In $22,900 NJSS

May 30 - In his first lifetime start, Q Forty Five (Muscles Yankee - Bax Machine) was number 1 at the finish in this early battle of 3 YO trotting colts at the Meadowlands for trainer Jim Takter. Q Forty Five was taken away from the gate nicely by driver Ron Pierce, content to follow several other horses early in the race. He took advantage of several breakers to position himself second in the final turn behind race favorite Clearaway, when Pierce tipped him out in the early stretch for the lead to win decisively in 1:56.2. Q Forty Five was trained down to 1:59 as a 2 year old before turning out to mature. Owned by Christina Takter, Ken Ross, and John Fielding, Q Forty Five may give stablemate Ken Warkentin company in the major stakes this summer.

Windsong Stable will sell Bax And Queens, a Dream Vacation filly out of Bax Machine, at Harrisburg this November.

Don Boss Vita Wins $154,200 Su Mac Lad In Stakes Record Time

April 10 - Don Boss Vita proved that last week's big win in the Su Mac Lad series was no fluke when he decisively beat a field of fine aged trotters in a 1:52.1 Stakes Record in the $154,2000 Final. Leaving from Post 2 for driver Brian Sears, Don Boss Vita got away second to H P Paque in a slow 28 second first quarter. Sears quickly took command, and opened serious distance on the field by the top of the stretch. Mr. Muscleman made his move on the leader after being shuffled back in traffic, but Don Boss Vita held off his charge at the wire. The win brings Don Boss Vita's lifetime earnings to $319,337 and guarantees him an invitation to the prestigious Nat Ray Trot.

Bred by Windsong Stable partners Paul E. and Jo Spears, Don Boss Vita 1:52.1 ($242,237) is out of a full sister to World Champion Nettie M TT1:57 ($125,553). Windsong Stable will sell Button Box, bf (Conway Hall - Nettie M) at Harrisburg in November.

Don Boss Vita In Gutty Win Over Mohammed Mali

April 3 - After a long injury layoff from a spectacular Spring 2004 campaign, Don Boss Vita announced that he will be a major force in the Aged Trotter ranks this year by winning today's $50,000 leg of the Su Mac Lad Series at The Meadowlands. Starting from Post 9 on a very wet track, Don Boss Vita got away indifferently on the outside and was quickly shuffled back next to last by the 1/4 pole. Driver Brian Sears then stepped on the gas to bring Don Boss Vita to first over position, where he went head-to-head through the stretch with leader and previous winner of 7 of 8 races Mohammed Mali. Despite his difficult outside trip, Don Boss Vita got up to win over Mohammed Mali near the wire in 1:55.2. The win guarantees him a place in next week's $154,200 Su Mac Lad Final, and brings his lifetime earnings to $242,237.

Windsong Stable Ranked 21st Standardbred Breeder in 2004 Earnings

January 10 - With the 2004 racing season completed, Windsong Stable ranked 21st in 2004 earnings by a breeder with $1,820,136. Windsong Stable had only 6 starters, led of course by Triple Crown winner Windsong's Legacy 3, 1:53 ($1,744,644). Other leading 2004 performers bred by Windsong Stable partners included Don Boss Vita 1:52.1 ($217,237) and Magic Swan 2, 1:57.2; 1:59h ($159,016), neither of which were included in the above figures. Windsong Stable has consolidated its USTA registration of ownership for 2005, such that 2006 foals born to Windsong Stable-managed mares will be registered under our banner, instead of many being listed under partners' individual names. We look forward to continuing our outstanding racing performance record in the years to come.
