August 7 - Starting in post 1, Rolling In Clover (Kadabra - Sweetspellosuccess) rolled to a wire-to-wire five length victory today in a $7,200 CDN leg of the Prospect Series at Kawartha Downs. The win was his second of the season for trainer/driver/owner Guy Gagnon, and established a new 2:00.2 lifetime mark. Owned by Ecuries Guy Gagnon, Gestion Louis Latulippe, and Gestion Bruno Bloiun, Rolling in Clover is 5 - 2 - 1 - 0 in 2021, including a second place in an ONTSS-GR at Sarnia.
In Range Back On Target in $50,000 Muscle Hill at the Meadowlands
August 6 - In Range (Bar Hopping - Ilia) has had an up-and-down 2021 so far, but appears to have regained his confidence and form today with a lifetime best 1:51.4 victory in the $50,000 Muscle Hill at the Meadowlands. Starting from post 5, In Range was gunned to the lead in a 27.0 first quarter by driver Tim Tetrick. From there the outcome was never in doubt, as In Range coasted to a well-earned three length victory. With his second win of 2021, In Range increased his lifetime earnings to $534,047.
Just Joshing Wins Again in $15,000 NY Excelsior A Series at Monticello
July 23 - Just Joshing (Chapter Seven - Jodis Jayme) earned her second win of 2021 in today's $15,000 NY Excelsior A Series at Monticello. From post 4, Just Joshing quickly assumed the lead for driver Andy Miller and thereafter was never threatened in a two length 1:58.3f victory, just missing her 2YO lifetime mark. The victory should secure Just Joshing a place in the $50,000 Final later this year.
Just Joshing Wires Field in $15,000 NY Excelsior A at Goshen
July 4 - Drawing post 4 in the $15,000 NY Excelsior A at Goshen, Just Joshing went wire-to-wire to defeat a strong field of competitors in 1:59.1 today. Just Joshing went quickly from the gate for the lead, and gave her connections a few anxious moments when she threw in two extra steps near the end of the last turn. Driver Andy Miller kept her trotting, and she proved the best down the lane for victory by a head over her usual rival, Izzy Demsky. The win was her first this year, and increased her lifetime earnings to $76,490 for Andy Miller Stable and Windsong Stable.
In Range Starts 2021 With 1:52.3 Victory in $50,159 PASS
May 15 - In Range (Bar Hopping - Ilia) started his 3 year old season with a brisk 1:52.3f victory in a $50,159 division of the PA Sire Stakes today at the Meadows. Starting from Post 5, In Range took the lead out of the gate for driver Tim Tetrick past the half in a leisurely 57.2. On the backstretch, second betting choice Jujubee made a determined rush toward the front. Surprisingly, Tetrick allowed Jujubee to clear to the front before the 3/4 pole. In the stretch, In Range pulled to the outside and finally ran down a very determined Jujubee for a 3/4 length victory in 1:52.3f, a new lifetime record. With this victory, In Range is now 11 - 6 - 4 - 0 with lifetime earnings of $436,087 for trainer Marcus Melander and owners AMG Stable, Kenneth Kjellgren, Tomas Hans Asell, and Rick Wahlstedt. "Rent-A-Horse" Try Try Again Scores 7th Victory of 2021 at Pocono
April 27 - Try Try Again (Kadabra - Sweetspellosuccess) continued his winning ways in the claiming ranks at Pocono today with a 1:55.1 effort in a $12,800 20,000CLHCP. Starting from post 5, Try Try Again got away fourth from the gate but quickly moved up to challenge for the lead in a blistering 27 second first quarter. Once on the lead, driver Simon Allard put on the brakes to give him a breather through a 29.3 second quarter and a 29.1 third quarter. In the stretch, Try Try Again was never seriously challenged in a one length victory. The victory brought his 2021 record to 16 - 7 - 3 - 1 with seasonal earnings of $43,775, and lifetime earnings of $236,240. Try Try Again is currently with his 4th owner of 2021, having changed hands, stables, and trainers repeatedly during his current hot streak.
Get Legs Gets It All In $69,000 John Brennan S. Final
April 21 - As winner of two legs of the John Brennan S. at Yonkers, Get Legs was sent to the gate as a 1/9 favorite from post 6 in the $69,000 Final. However, Get Legs gave his connections more than a few anxious moments before powering to a 1 3/4 length victory in 1:58.3. At the gate, Get Legs seemed to hesitate before starting out after the field, and quickly found himself fifth by 8 3/4 lengths at the quarter pole. From there, Get Legs found himself blocked by traffic before driver Andy Miller worked out a second over trip. Coming around the final turn, Get Legs swung wide and finally launched a powerful stretch drive which overwhelmed the field. Puddin N Pie A Winner In $11,000 Open at Rosecroft
April 21 - After a decisive 1:55.3 victory last week, Puddin N Pie (Yankee Glide - Banbury Cross) returned to Open competition at Rosecroft and quickly dominated a good field of trotters. Starting from post 6, Puddin N Pie left the gate smartly and only yielded the lead to Judge Bob at a 27.4 quarter. Puddin N Pie then enjoyed the benefits of a pocket trip before driver Timmy Offutt ducked him into the passing lane and easily claimed the prize with a 1:57.2 victory by one length. Puddin N Pie is now 10 - 2 - 3 - 2 for $19,110 in 2021, raising his lifetime earnings to $140,575 for owner/trainer Howard Birney.
Get Legs Crushes Field in $20,000 (leg) John Brennan Series
April 14 - Get Legs (Muscle Hill - Legzy) won his second $20,000 leg of the John Brennan Series at Yonkers tonight by 4 lengths, toying with the overmatched field to earn his 10th win in 12 lifetime starts. Andy Miller was in no hurry to move Get Legs out of post 1, biding his time in 4th before rolling to the outside and assuming the lead just after the half. From there, Get Legs was unchallenged before pulling away from the field in late stretch to win in 1:55.3h. Get Legs now has $86,010 in lifetime earnings after his belated racing debut last November. Get Legs: Leading or Closing, It's All The Same
March 13 - Get Legs (Muscle Hill - Legzy) found himself in an unusual situation tonight. With little gate speed in the field, driver Andy Miller decided to try something different: ask Get Legs to take the lead early and hold it throughout the race. And that's exactly what he did. Get Legs left alertly from post 4 to take the lead in a 27.4 first quarter. With the rest of the field content to follow, Get Legs stole the middle of the race with 29 and 28.4 second quarters. By the time Pikachu Hanover and Mission Accepted launched their challenges. Get Legs turned on the burners to easily hold them off with a 27.2 final quarter in a 1:53 victory that was not as close as it looked. Get Legs earned his 8th victory in 9 starts, and received laudatory coverage from Meadowlands press. Get Legs has demonstrated unequivocally that he has very special talent. Get Legs Takes Another Big Step Forward with 1:52.3 Victory
February 28 - Get Legs (Muscle Hill - Legzy) met the biggest challenge of his short racing career with a 1:52.3 victory against the strongest field he has faced in the feature $15,500 trot at the Meadowlands tonight. Racing from post 4 against the Open trotter Rich and Miserable and the top 4YO Some Chapter, Get Legs settled into an unhurried fifth position in a 28.2 first quarter. Thereafter Rich and Miserable took over the lead, only to yield to Some Chapter by the 3/4 pole. Get Legs got underway second over, and at the top of the stretch he was third with open track ahead. With minimal urging from driver Andy Miller, Get Legs put it in another gear and caught Some Chapter to win by a neck at the wire in a lifetime mark of 1:52.3. Get Legs is now 8 - 7 - 0 - 1 for his career with earnings of $54,360 for owners Andy Miller Stable and Michael Anderson and trainer Julie Miller.
Class Jump, Bad Post, and Traffic Jam Are No Problem For Get Legs in 1:53.4 Win
February 12 - Despite a double jump in class, poor post position, and major traffic problems, Get Legs (Muscle Hill - Legzy) continued his upward march through the Meadowlands conditioned classes with another victory in 1:53.4 against the best field he has yet faced. Starting from post 7, Get Legs soon found himself stuck far outside through the first turn after a cavalry charge from the gate. Driver Andy Miller had to settle for a next-to-last tuck. After the half, the field quickly bunched in three wide fashion, with Get Legs buried seventh and three wide, third over by the 3/4 pole. With a four wide move at the top of the stretch, Get Legs found clear track to began his charge toward the front. When soon-to-be rival Some Chapter reached his wheel late in the stretch, Get Legs dug in and flew past the leaders to secure victory by a head. Now 7 - 6 - 0 - 1 lifetime with earnings of $46,610, Get Legs now is victorious in the NW9 class after winning in NW2 as recently as December 11. A USTA interview with trainer Julie Miller revealed her plan to go slow with this talented but inexperienced horse, while pointing him toward the Graduate Series and other high level races this spring.
Joey Conquers Some Chapter Decisively
January 8 - Joey (Yankee Glide - Jodi's Jayme) turned back a challenge by current Meadowlands darling tonight in a gritty stretch battle. Leaving quickly from post 8, Joey gained command at the quarter pole for David Miller while odds-on favorite Some Chapter sat fifth. After turning away a back stretch challenge from The Veteran who decided to tuck back inside again, Some Chapter moved forward rapidly after the half to challenge. But in the stretch, Joey simply refused to yield while winning in 1:53.1 for owners/trainer William and Leslie Zendt. Clearly, Joey has made great progress since his arrival at the Meadowlands under the skilled direction of driver David Miller.
Get Legs Now A Perfect 5/5 In His Easiest Victory
January 8 - Get Legs (Muscle Hill - Legzy) remains undefeated in five career starts in what proved to be his easiest victory tonight at the Meadowlands. Starting from post 2, Get Legs floated out quickly to an easy third position which he maintained through a leisurely 57 second half. With minimal urging from driver Andy Miller, Get Legs took off and established a lead well before the 3/4 pole. In the stretch, Get Legs pulled away to an effortless 1:53.1 victory by 6 lengths. As he moves up the ladder in Meadowlands Conditioned races, Get Legs will enjoy more racing experience and gradually develop his speed under the patient tutelage of trainer Julie Miller for owners Michael Anderson and Andy Miller Stable.
